This sword originates from the Visayan islands and like most weapons, has it's practical application for brush clearing, general purpose chopping, etc. In a pinch, it makes a great weapon of self defense. The TAK Training Pinute comes with a rubber cord cord handle which really is the only practical grip for a sword of this size. It is comfortable, absorbs shock, and your hand will have the most secure possible attachment to the tool.
Blemish models typically have a scratch or minor surface irregularity along the blade. If you're going to hit hard objects, save some $ and select the "Blemish" model if available.
